Nursing Scholarships for Veterans
If you’re a veteran or family member of a veteran or deceased military member who plans on attending a CNA program or continuing your nursing education, you may be worried about covering your daily expenses and your tuition. There are many scholarships available for people in your situation. While Premier Nursing Academy is tuition-free, some money is available to cover other school-related or living costs. If you plan to continue your education after completing school at Premier Nursing Academy, many of the scholarships below may apply to you as well.
This is for veterans, active military, children or grandchildren of veterans, HS senior JROTC members.
These scholarships are based on both financial need and academic achievement. For veterans, active duty military, and their children and grandchildren, those planning on attending an accredited trade school or undergraduate program are eligible. For JROTC applicants, an undergraduate program is required. Excepting the JROTC scholarship, they total $4,000, spread across four years of education. The JROTC scholarship is a one-time award of $1,000.

The Ankin Law Office has an annual scholarship to help veterans and their dependents achieve an education at a college, university, or trade/vocational school. The $1,000 award is sent directly to winner’s school and to be used only for tuition. Award decision is based upon applicant’s essay. The winner’s essay may be published on sponsor’s website. This is for U.S. Active Army, Army National Guard, and Army Reserve members (veterans or active duty) or their children or spouses who are enrolled in a nursing or anesthesia program and aren’t receiving any other Army funding.
If you’re a veteran or currently serving in the Army or a spouse or child thereof, the Army Nurse Corps Association (ANCA) offers up to $3,000 for a nursing or anesthesia undergraduate or graduate program. Students cannot receive other educational benefits from the Army, such as the G.I. Bill or ROTC. Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from an academic advisor in their program, documents to show army affiliation, transcripts, and financial aid information.

The Army Women’s Foundation (AWF) Legacy Scholarship is for women who have or are serving in the U.S. Army, Reserve, or National Guard, as well as their children. The award amount, number of winners, and GPA requirements vary based on the program you attend. The scholarship is available to those accepted to community college or trade school (up to $1,000), undergraduate, or graduate programs (up to $2,500). Applicants submit an online application, transcripts, proof of academic institution, documentation of service, and an essay on how the Army has impacted your life goals. Awards will be sent directly to the accredited schools the winners attend and must be used for school expenses or documented room and board.

This is for urple Heart recipeients (veterans or active duty) who are MOPH members, their spouses or widows/widowers, and their direct lineal descendants.
If you’re a Purple Heart recipient (veteran or active duty) or their spouse, dependant, or grandchild, you qualify for the Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) Scholarship to cover a full-time undergraduate or trade school education. The veteran/active duty applicants must be (or have been, if deceased) active members of MOPH. Scholarship amounts vary. This award is non-renewable; however, you can receive two scholarships from the organization in non-consecutive years. One scholarship winner will also receive the Navy SEAL LT Michael P. This scholarship awards veterans with up to $5,000 towards tuition at an VA-approved, accredited college. Applicants must be accepted at a school and have completed the FAFSA. It’s open to honorably discharged, retired, and separated veterans. The deadline for the fall semester closes in April, with the spring semester deadline in November. Scholarships are paid directly to the school, must be used for tuition and fees alone, and if they’re not used in their entirety in the approved semester, the award is null and void.
